Fun Learning Games to Play Indoors

When summer break comes along, it can be hard to keep your children in the house long enough to play a game, let alone an educational game. In winter, however, your children aren’t too fond of going out in the cold and so, well, strangely enough, it’s still hard to get them to play an educational game! If this sounds like a regular winter break in your home, The Tutoring Center, Miramar FL has a post which can help.

If you are a fan of the classic game then you will enjoy this educational twist. The rules of the regular game still remain, however, create your own cards which you can sprinkle into the deck. Focus these cards on any learning challenges your child is experiencing. For example, if geography is presenting a challenge, items like the Eiffel Tower or the London Bridge can be great cards to place in the deck. Of course, once your student guesses the correct answer, quiz them further. In the Eiffel Tower example, a quick, ‘What year was it built’?" or, ‘How tall is it’?" can be a great way to keep their knowledge fresh.

Monopoly is a great way for children to keep their basic math skills sharp during the colder months because it allows for multiple players, namely, your family. While it might make for a slower game, assign your student to be the banker to help keep their basic math skills sharp. To further extend the challenge, change the prices of the properties slightly. For example, if rent is $225, make it $227 to force your student to perform a tougher equation.
